A 10X10 kitchen layout is a sample kitchen, which consists 12 or sometimes 14 units. It is used to give a customer a general idea of the approximate cost of such a set and allow them to compare models from different collections, lines or even brands. This sample kitchen does not take into account possible customizations, different types of finishing, accessories and other changes, so the final price may be higher or even lower.

This universal layout is designed in such a manner that it includes all the most popular and necessary cabinet types: a corner wall cabinet, a sink base, several wall cabinets etc. It is called 10X10 as it occupies 20 feet of wall space or 100 square feet.

That’s a good question! For instance, the basic prices for a linear foot are:

White shaker kitchen cabinets: $115 with delivery only, $155 for a “turn-key” service, i.e. delivery, assembling and installing.

High gloss kitchen cabinets: $250 without assembling and installing, $310 with a full service.

Just multiply this price by 20 and you’ll get an average cost of the whole set. But please remember that the final calculation heavily depends on lots of factors and nuances: the chosen materials, collections, finishes, accessories, services etc.

Shaker kitchen cabinets are in high demand for a reason. Let’s point out just a few their obvious pros:

As for the cons, there are hardly any. The only thing which may be considered as a tiny drawback – High Gloss collection costs a little bit more than Shaker Cabinets, but, again, it’s you who decide on the final calculation.

Shaker cabinets are usually made of the local wood, nowadays it’s mostly maple, but that’s not a strict rule. Manufacturers of Mission cabinets prefer oak, as this material is not only solid and durable, but also very well-looking even – especially! – without paint or finish.

Shaker style is focused on extreme functionality, so the sets themselves are stylish but still quite humble. Mission style is all about craftsmanship and beauty of natural materials. It also implies clean lines and simple forms, but the furniture may be slightly more furnished.

European kitchens tend to be smaller than the American ones, moreover, European landlords may let their apartments without kitchen furniture. So the main principle of this style is “less space taken, more functionality given”. European cabinets are quite simple yet versatile, so that they can fit any interior. One of the key features of this style is hidden hinges and the maximum doors/drawer’s aperture.

European style cabinets are also less decorated, and they tend to be more durable, solid and, let us put it this way, charming.

The latter may be considered as a tiny drawback, though. But if you don’t want to clean your furniture on a daily basis, just select darker colors. Don’t forget to use a piece of soft cloth and a mild cleanser in order not to scratch the cabinet.

While gloss sets reflect the light, the matt ones absorb it. It means that high gloss finish makes a kitchen visually more spacious, and the cabinets themselves look more glamorous. Matt models are more humble and they need a little more lighting.

On the other hand, the shiny surface is vulnerable for any stains while its matt analogue successfully hides all the fingerprints and soap remnants. It is not so easy to scratch a matt cabinet or damage it in other ways, while gloss cabinet’s owners have to pay extra attention and keep little children or pets as far from kitchen furniture as possible.
